Stephen Hatfield, born in British Columbia in 1956, is a free-lance composer and conductor who has created an acclaimed body of choral literature with 200 titles in print and an international discography of recorded titles that also numbers in the hundreds. Current projects include a lecture tour of Chongqing in China’s Sichuan province, and conducting the premiere of his new mass in Prague. He has received the Governor General’s Gold Medal, a high honour in Canada, while his children’s opera, Ann & Séamus, which has toured Europe and North American, has been the subject of a television documentary. |
