Studied Catholic church music at the State University of Music in Cologne with, among others, Michael Schneider (organ), Vera von Schnitzler (piano), Rudolf Ewerhart (choir conducting) and Edith Kertesz (singing). Master classes and academies with Daniel Chorzempa, Hermann Josef Busch, Willibrord Heckenbach, Michael Radulescu, Peter Neumann and others complement his training.
Since 1986 he has been a full-time church musician at the Holy Cross Church in Trier. Since 1992 he has also worked as cantor at the parish church of St. Maternus and since 2001 also at the parish of St. Michael, Trier-Mariahof.
In these communities he developed a lively church music life in church services and concerts. He leads the Heiligkreuz Trier choir community as well as several groups of the Heiligkreuz children's and youth choir, which he also supervises with instrumental pedagogy.
From 2006 he also worked as choir director of the vocal ensemble Jubilate Musica in neighboring Luxembourg. Since 2016 he has been leading the project chamber choir Cappella vocale Trier.
He provided significant impetus for the construction of the organs in the Trier churches of Heiligkreuz (Sauer 1995) and St. Michael (Klais-Fasen 2009).
He has been the deanery cantor for the Trier deanery since 2000. He initiated numerous deanery singings for church choirs as well as voice training seminars and choir projects.
As a lecturer at the Episcopal Church Music School in Trier, he teaches organ, piano and cantorial singing.
From his practice he publishes compositions and arrangements for various vocal and instrumental ensembles. |
