Sandro Filippi born in Trento, he was taught by Renato Dionisi, Bruno Zanolini and Carlo Pirola and graduated in polyphonic Vocal Composition and Brass Band Instrumentation at the conservatory in Milan as well as in Choral Music and Choral Conducting at the conservatory in Verona. He was conductor of “I Musici Cantori” from Trento. He gave numerous concerts with this ensemble and won national as well as international competitions. He is member of the artistic committee of “Fondazione coro SAT”. Sandro Filippi is regularly invited to both national and international choir and composition competitions as member of the jury. At the 11th International Composition Competition “Ivan Spassov” in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) he won the second prize. Furthermore, he won the 5th edition of the Composition Competition “Paolo Valenti- Musica e Sport” in Rome as well as the 1st national competition for music didactics of the city of Pontremoli in 2001. In addition to choir compositions and folk music arrangements he wrote works for organ and piano. He won many prizes and awards at national and international competitions with his works. His works have been performed at different occasions in Italy and abroad by the choirs “Tone Tonisic” from Ljubljana (Slovenia), “Voci Nobili” from Bergen (Norway), “Piccoli Musici” from Casazza (Italy), “Aureliano” from Rome (Italy) and “Minipolifonici” from Trento (Italy). His works are published by “Pizzicato”, “Carrara”, “Pro Musica Studium”, “Suvini Zerboni”, “Edizioni Musicali Europee” and “Edition Music Contact”. His competitions have been selected as compulsory pieces at national and international choir competitions. Since 2004 Sandro Filippi has been art director of “Accademia Musicale San Giorgio” in Verona and conductor of their chamber choir. Moreover, he works as lecturer for choral conducting and repertoire for music didactics at the conservatory “Monteverdi” in Bozen.
