Reiko Füting was born 1970 in Königs Wusterhausen. After his education in special classes for music and the radio Youth choir Wernigerode he studied composition and piano at the University of Music in Dresden, at the Rice University in Houston (Texas), at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City as well as at the Seoul National University in South Korea. The composers Jörg Herchet and Nils Vigeland as well as the pianist Winfried Apel belong to the teachers who were most important to him. After a lectureship for vocal coaching at the University of Music and at the theatre in Rostock, Reiko Füting was appointed in 2000 as a professor for composition and music theory at the Manhattan School of Music where he is also leading the department for music theory since 2005. He taught as a guest lecturer at universities and conservatories in China, Germany and the USA. Apart from his educational work Reiko Füting, who has been awarded with prizes and scholarships, has been active as a composer, pianist and accompanist in different European and Asian countries as well as in the USA. His compositions were performed by internationally renowned interpreters and ensembles, have been broadcasted on TV and radio, published on CD and have been edited as publications like his analytic writings.
