Marek Jasinski was born on 10th September 1949 in Stargard Szczecinski. He studied at the University of Music in Posen to teach music (passed with distinction in 1974) and studied composition under Prof. Andrzej Koszewski. Additionally he took courses for composition in Bulgaria in 1983 and 1987 and apart from that he completed postgraduate studies for education in 1987. Jasinski received two awards at international composition competitions, the 2nd prize in Toirs in 1987 for „Beatus Vir“, and in 1996 the 1st prize in Danzig-Rumii for „Piesn Zwiastowania“ for mixed choir. Furthermore he received eight awards at Polish competitions. Likewise he was awarded merits for his compositions for children. Jasinski was a member of the jury at composition and choir competitions, amongst others in Aamersfoort (Netherlands) in 1997. Since 1995 he is working at the Music Academy Bydgoszcz (Bromberg) as a professor for music history and composition in the fields of composition, counterpoint and instrumentation. In 1989 he was awarded in Stettin a voivodship award for his extraordinary musical achievements. In addition he received an artistic merit of the city of Stettin in 1997 and the first schoolmaster degree of the Music Academy Bydgoszcz in 2000. In the same year he received an accolade of the marshal of the voivodship Kujawsko-Pomorskie. From 1999 to 2005 he was working as a dean at the department for composition and music history at the Music Academy in Bydgoszcz. His compositions are being performed in many European countries and in Argentina, Australia, Israel, Canada and in the USA.
