Günter Kochan
Born in Luckau / Niederlausitz, 2. Oct. 1930 Studied at College of Music, Berlin-Charlottenburg, with K.F. Noetel, H. Wunsch and Blacher, 1946-50.
Attended Hanns Eisler's master class at the German Academy of Arts, Berlin.
Since 1950 teacher, lecturer, and since 1967 professor for composition at the College of Music “Hanns Eislere”, Berlin (East).
Part-time professorship 1985-91;
since 1985 freelance composer.
Member of the Academy of Arts, (East) Ber¬lin 1966-92.
Vice-President of the Composers' Association of the GDR 1972-81.
National Prize of the GDR 1964, 1979.
Goethe Prize of the City of Berlin (East) 1973.
ARCA Prize, Montevideo 1965,
First Prize for tuba compositions, Los Ange¬les 1978. |
