GUIDO MESSORE was born in S. Ambrogio sul Garigliano (FR) in 1934. He studied at the Institute of Sacred Music in Rome where he graduated in Organ, Sacred Composition, Polyphonic Direction and Gregorian Chant under E. Arndt, F. Vignanelli, D. Bartolucci, A. Renzi, R. Baratta. In 1965 he gained an award with a gold medal and honourable mention as best student in organ course. H works as concert player, composer as well as director of choirs. As organist he participated to important festivals and reviews in Italy and abroad (Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Australia). As a composer he created the Oratory “Ingresso di Gesù in Gerusalemme” for choirs, soloists and orchestra; moreover he made a wide production of music for choirs and organ. Several compositions for choirs are sung now in many important Italian choirs and some of them are chosen for national and international choral competitions. His compositions are published by following editions: Carrara editions, Suvini-Zerboni editions, Rugginenti editions, Erreffe editions, European editions, Edition Music Contact (Germany). In 1994 he won the national competition for choral composition published by Piemonte Choirs Association, with “Puer natus” for female choir. In 2005 he won the national prize for a choral composition “Cantar Trieste” with “Il filo dell’autunno” for four female voices. More choral compositions have been noticed during choral competitions in Italy and abroad (Lugano, Nuoro, Frascati). G. Messore was jury member in many important national choral competitions (La Spezia, Quartiano, Battipaglia, Vasto, Malcesine, Roccasecca, Verona, Montorio al Vomano,ecc.). He is founder and director of a polyphonic female choir called “Samnium Concentus” of Campobasso. With this choir he won several prizes for national and international choral competitions. He has been the chairman of Harmony at the Conservatory “L. Perosi” in Campobasso until 2005.
