Founder & CEO
Piroska Horváth

Piroska Horváth

It all began in 1988 when Piroska Horváth whole-heartedly dedicated herself to inspiring international exchange between people from all around the world through choral singing. With the 1st International Choir Competition in Budapest, Hungary, a new choral tradition was born; one based upon humane and inclusive judging. This innovative adjudication, originated by M°Hollerung, has evolved to be known as “The InChoral” Evaluation System. Prior to launching meeting music, Horváth was co-founder of the organization that produced the World Choir Games and other international choral competitions. With each growing success she gained the respect of choral musicians and contemporary composers around the world. Through these relationships, she was inspired to establish PH-Publishers to celebrate the excellent choral works by artists of our time. Horváth and her team demand high standards of excellence in accommodations, meals, and scheduling as they develop choral experiences for thousands of participants. Horváth holds these words from Plato close to her heart:

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, and life to everything.” Platon (427 – 347 v.Chr.)."

Artistic director
Gábor Hollerung

Gábor Hollerung

Born in 1954 in Budapest, Hollerung graduated from the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. He is Principal Conductor of the Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok, one of Hungary’s top symphony orchestras, and is director of the Budapest Academic Choral Society, and founder of the Budapest International Choir Competition. Regularly invited to Israel, Taiwan, Brazil and the United States, Hollerung has conducted the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, the Taipei Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Pops. He passionately engages in training young conductors and teaches master classes in Hungary and abroad. His conducting workshop has become the highlight of the annual Taipei Choral Festival. Since 2004, he has served as Artistic Director of the prestigious Zemplén Festival in Hungary. Gábor Hollerung is internationally known as author and mastermind of the InChoral Evaluation System which has evolved from his original Musica Mundi adjudication system. This system is recognized as the fairest and most equitable form of international choral competition judging and is used worldwide by many competitions. Gábor Hollerung was awarded the Knights’ Cross Order of the Hungarian Republic (2002), the Liszt Prize (2004), the Jerusalem Prize (2006), the Artisjus Prize for presenting contemporary music on high quality (2008), and in 2015 he was awarded the title of “A Merit Artist” by his home country, Hungary.
